One treatment however which may be worth trying are Chinese herbal remedies. They are not always the best tasting of remedies but have worked for many sufferers, with symptoms even clearing up in the matter of a couple of weeks.

Many have even gone onto to say that it has worked as a miracle cure for them, so if your current treatment isn’t working, why not consult a doctor who is familiar with these remedies and see if it works for you.

Over the years doctors have seen many instances where children with eczema have gone onto develop asthma. The link between the two is quite common but it is only recently that doctors think they have discovered the trigger that causes children with eczema to develop asthma. A substance produced as a result of the damaged skin of eczema sufferers was found to trigger asthma in mice. This same substance is produced in the lungs of eczema sufferers which points to the reasons as to why they go on to develop asthma.
Early treatment of eczema in sufferers can help to stop the development of asthma but doctors are also developing drugs which may help to stop the asthma developing.

Doctors have discovered that those people who suffer from psoriasis are at an increased risk of suffering from depression and anxiety. It has long been known that the disease can have an effect on the mental health of sufferers as they struggle with the painful skin condition. One study undertaken in the 1960’s labelled the emotional burden of the skin disease as the “heartbreak of Psoriasis”. Future studies are needed to delve deeper into the this and discover the true nature of the link, but it is a sign that both pharmaceutical and counselling treatments are need to overcome this disease.

As adults we learn to cope with eczema and the itching it causes but it becomes much harder for children. Therefore the best thing to help them is to determine what it is that triggers the eczema in the first place. It is different for everyone but some of the typical triggers can be synthetic wool or fibres, pet hair, dust and detergents. Try to minimise your child’s content with these substances as much as possible to help stop the irritation.
For other triggers which aren’t so preventable such as climate changes, colds and flus the next option is treatment. For this is it is a case of going to the doctor and working out which moisturiser is best for you.

I recently read an article concerning traditional Chinese herbal medicine and the benefits that they can provide eczema sufferers, according to new research in the British Journal of Dermatology. A spokesperson from the British Journal of Dermatology went on to explain that these early studies show that children suffering with atopic eczema could possible gain from a certain mixture of traditional Chinese herbs. It was also mentioned that this particular form of treatment could possible find its way into mainstream and more popular forms of medication.

However, you should consult your doctor before using these herbal medicines.

I’m not sure how I came about this story but, I somehow did and if there was ever anything laugh about eczema then this is it. Well maybe!
Apparently this story dates back to 1917 when a young American woman overheard an older lady shouting something to her young child whilst in Central Park, New York. At first she couldn’t actually understand what was being shouted so walked nearer to the old woman for clarification. It appeared that the woman was shouting, “Exy, Exy”.
Apparently Exy wasn’t the child’s her actual name but was short for her full name, which was Eczema! Lucky child!!

My girlfriend suffers occasionally bad eczema and has tried numerous moisturisers and creams to help remedy or relieve the situation.
After trying these various products the only one that she can really recommend is E45. The cream is effective at keeping the skin soft and supple so it doesn’t itch as much. It works by restoring natural moisture, lipids and oils which skin with eczema is lacking.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not portraying E45 as the cure or as a remedy that will work for everyone. However, if you haven’t yet tried E45 to help ease your symptoms then it might be worth trying.
