Development of Asthma from People with Eczema
There has been a proven link between children suffering from Eczema developing Asthma at a later age. This has been said to be because the same type of allergies which develop in people with Eczema and similar dermatological conditions also develop in people with Asthma. According to a recent study by by Dr Shadmehr Demehri from The Washington University School of Medicine, a protein called thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) which is made in damaged skin “triggers asthma symptoms”. The researchers hope that treating the skin condition early and then blocking the production of TSLP could reduce or stop the onset of Asthmatic symptoms.
