Eczema Facts
• Eczema is one of the most common skin diseases
• Millions of adults and children suffer from the disease.
• Symptoms of eczema include; itchy scaly skin, usually raised and red.
• There are no accurate reasons for the cause of eczema. Genetics are believed to play a large part. For example; if both parents have eczema there is an 80% chance that their children will develop eczema too.
• Often eczema sufferers will suffer with conditions such as hayfever and asthma too.
• Most cases of eczema begin in the first five years of a child’s life, usually in the first two-six months, 1 in 2 of these cases will have outgrown it by adulthood.
• If not outgrown majority will suffer throughout their lifetime.
• The most common triggers of eczema seem to be; Stress, house dust mites, moulds, grasses, plant pollens, foods, pets, clothing, soaps, shampoos ,washing powders, cosmetics, toiletries tobacco smoke, chemicals, weather, air conditioning or overheating.
